John Graf won the Group A championship with a 30 point margin over Rogier de Klein…but it didn’t start out that easy. Bevan Roberts took his Aston to 4 wins out of 5 races at the start of the season…but after Bev inexplicably packed it in, John came on strong. Winning 1/2 of the races, he even took a pair of wins at what was a Volvo-favored track with his Corvette.

The two “Rs”, Rod & Rob, battled it out for the Group B championship, making it one of the tightest battles ever. At the last race Rod was ahead by only 3 points…meaning that Rob had to keep his Mustang clean and up front. It worked, and Rob won his first TPTCC Championship!

The twisty Kyalami circuit in South Africa was the last race of the season, and Jason Inch used his superior traction in the Volvo to put the final smackdown on the rest of the Group A crowd. However, he didn’t get a chance to escape TOO far from runner up Rogier, who finished only a little over one second behind in his Caddy CTS-V.

Rob had to run better than Rod Viper in this race, as there was a 3 point difference between the top two in Group B. This he did, and finished with almost a 40 second lead over runner-up Rod in his Caddy.

John Graf put a serious exclamation point on his championship bid with a pair of wins at Grand Valley East. He muscled his Corvette to a nice 7 second lead over Rogier in the first race, and a 3 second lead to Jason Inch in the 2nd race.

The Pits Performance Team put a serious bid for the championship with two more wins, making it 4 in a row for The Pits Astons. First race Chris Squier took the flag with Jan in a close 2nd, in the 2nd race Jan took the win with Jerry McComas in his Volvo about 13 seconds back.

At the twisty Vitus Parc Grand-Prix, Group A driver John Graf pulled out on the competition for a good win. At the checkered flag, he held an 11 second advantage over Rogier.

In Group B, Jan pulled a good lead on the other the Group B drivers, he finished 6 seconds ahead of his fellow Aston teammate, Chris Squier.

The double sprints in Vancouver didn’t turn up a single double winner. In Group A, Rogier and John Graf traded the top 2 positions in the both races, while in Group B, Jeff Sorensen brought his Camaro home in first for the first race, while Chris Squier took the top spot with his Aston in the 2nd.

The Group A guys managed to get a top 10 lockout of the finishing order with Bas bringing it home in his Camaro. Rod topped the Group B guys with his Camaro in 12th, but had Rob in a Mustang right on his tail.

Rogier de Klein & Bas Zwartenbol have been racing TPTCC since the Papyrus days. Unlike many of the TPTCC drivers, they both hail from over the ocean in the Netherlands. They are both TPTCC champs, and are always at the forefront of any field, including quite a few Bullrun 1000 races.
